      hi jeffrey,

Can’t refer you to any right now. But i’m sure there is one. In fact, your laptop should have it’s own wifi speed indicator.

btw, i’m talking about real wifi and not smart wifi (which is a misnomer of “wifi”).

Ka edong where are you from Mandaluyong? sa Barangka Itaas ako, near EDSA na. I have a smart wifi installed at home, January 27,2006 na-install and since february 3, nawalan na ako ng connection. I just paid my monthly due last feb 20.

I’ve been visiting your website since my wifi was installed. to get tips lalo na ngayong down na connection ko.

I’m planning to cancel my subscription without paying the termination fee.

Do you have any idea how can i fix my Wifi? I am using CNET and Dlink. I even Reinstalled XP wala pa rin. Even sa Red Hat Linux ko, nag work lang ang Wifi once tapos WALA NA CONNECTION!

I would appreciate if you could give any technical advice on how can I improve the connection of my Wifi.

      Thanks!

You can send me an email

      Hi Archie,
      malala na ata ito.

      > Do you have any idea how can i fix my Wifi?

From the sounds of it, mukhang mas-marami ka nang nasubukan kaysa sa akin.

      My advise: isolate the problem.

Find a laptop that works with Smart WiFi (e.g. a laptop of a friend who is using Smart WiFi). Bring his laptop to your home, try his laptop using your Smart WiFi. If it works, there’s something wrong with your system.

If it doesn’t work, what I would do is go get another ISP.

      Ka edong,

I tried using smart my old pc at PII MS Windows 98. Installed a new lan card and eureka! WALA PA DIN!

yah, I tried many alternatives para na ma-regain yun network connection.

      hey archie,

btw, you refer to canopy as something in the physical world.

Sa akin kasi, when I say “Canopy”, I refer to a program (a website even) in the installer’s laptop which they use to check for signal quality.

Yung antenna, the appliance - is that what you refer to as Canopy? Yun ba tawag dun, paki tanong naman yung field support. tnx

      ka edong

    16. By Archie on Feb 27, 2006 | Reply

      yo! ka edong,

according to my research in the internet, specifically Motorolla’s website, the term canopy is the antenna itself. the program they use to configure the Canopy is also called Canopy. I guess both are correct.

I shall rely on my cousin to see how the Technician would repair the connection.

Btw, I was browsing Microsoft’s website and i found a file which might help us, Smart Wifi Subscribers, to resolve the non stop issues.

      Search for

      “WindowsXP-KB884020-x86-enu.exe”

Update for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (KB884020)

      Overview

This update helps resolve an issue on computers running Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Programs that connect to IP addresses in the loopback address range may not work as expected and you may receive an
error message indicating you cannot establish a connection. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

I haven’t tried it but it might be worth a try.

I will update you regarding the reconnection of my wifi…hayyy sana nga maayos na ng field support.

      Thanks.

alin mas okey smart bro or dsl? anong advantages nila? i have dsl connection and so far its good. ang difference lang ba ay dahil wireless?hindi ba parang hotspot ito?if my neighbors have wifi pwede sila maka connect through my smart bro?or exclusive ito sa akin?
i thought of switching to this smartbro to get rid of the cables sana.but i have a wireless router kaya nagbago na isip ko.stick na lang ako dsl kahit medyo mahal (P1500)

    38. By ka edong on Aug 28, 2006 | Reply

Stick to your current DSL connection.

No, it isn’t like a hotspot, you still have cables that connect to your computer at home. You’ll need to connect it to your wireless router before your neighbors can access your hotspot.

naku ang problema talaga yung mga nagiinstall. When they where installing the equipment chinecheck ko ( having been in the telecoms industry for some time ) sabi ko na sa kanila na miski nakatutok yang antenna sa cellsite eh baliwala kse me puno na nakaharang!!! di nakinig , kinabit pa din !! ayun jitter 13 tas lagi pa putol putol signal.

The only solution is to relocate the antenna to get a better signal. you can check the signal strenght and the jitter rate via the firmaware of the antenna. Ang usual gateway address is 169.254.1.1 o kaya 169.254.1.2.

Anusan yo labat la tay dial-up yo. Or why don’t you try PLDTWeRoam or Globe Visibility? (trial muna, baka walang signal sa lugar niyo)

      Bryan,

I bought 2 weeks ago a PLDTWeRoam prepaid data card and an unlimited internet connection good for 3 months(will buy additional load if it expires) amounting to Php 10890. Connection is good. Downside is too costly, aside from the data card cost, you have to buy the WeLoad,as they call it, at Php 75/day or you buy the monthly load at around Php 1120 which is cheaper. But for me, since my work requires a great deal of mobility, i just thought it will be worth it.

      faye,

Try a visual inspection of your Smart Bro antenna.

GETS?
      it will surely work!!!!!

WHEN YOU HAVE SMARTWIFI CONNECTION PROBLEM? JUST REMOVE THE CLIP WIRED CONNECTING TO THE MODEM ( BOX WITH 3 LIGHT) THEN PUT IT BACK AFTER 1 MINUTE, WHEN NOT YET SOLVED YOUR PROBLEM IN CONNECTING, REPEAT THE PROCEDURE. LOG IN TO PORTAL.SMARTWIFI.COM THEN LOG IN FOR ACTIVATION

Sa Stateland subdivision to be exact. I am planning to avail their kasi. Any advice po dyan? Salamat po.

      My advice: Ask your neighbors.
      Goodluck!
      ka edong
