Hotspot Hunting: Shangri-La EDSA

On Pinoy.Tech.Blog, I have a story of hotspot hunting in Robinson’s Galleria.

Last year, I had a series of WiFi Hotspot hunting stories on Technobiography. I wrote about WiFi in Metro Manila malls and universities as well as a hotspot hunt in Baguio, my hometown.

I might as well write about the Hotspot at Shangri-La EDSA. I scuttled to Shangri-La EDSA for a meeting and this is what I discovered …

I asked about WiFi at the information booth and was given a list of stalls in Shangri-La with WiFi access:

National Bookstore
Healthy Options
Crossings
Replay
Cibo
Figaro
Maxitoylab
Gingersnaps
Kamiseta
Pipol R Pipol
Schu Salon
Pipay
BPI
Mongkok
50th Ave.

The WiFi provider in Shangri-La is Airborne Access. Prepaid cards can be purchased at the following stalls:

Café Provencal
Starbucks
Figaro
Brochiere

I won’t be using Shangri-La’s WiFi Hotspot much. That’s because it costs P100 per hour of usage. And here’s a warning: if you don’t log-off properly after using Airborne Access, your prepaid credits may get consumed without you realizing it.

      Hi ms. d,

      First:
Your laptop cannot connect *directly* to Smart WiFi/Smart Bro. You’ll need additional hardware to connect to Smart WiFi.

      Second:
      There is a list of WiFi Hotspots at yugatech.com … http://www.yugatech.com/blog/?p=656 .

      Third:
Easiest way is to ask some of your friends who use WiFi. I’m sure they have lots of tips they can share on where/how you can connect to WiFi.
I say “ask your friend” because it’s easier demonstrated to you on your laptop than to describe it to you through words.
