Globe Visibility Feedback

We like competition! That’s my first take on the entry of Globe in the service of mobile Internet access anytime anywhere.

Globe introduced Globe Visibility around two weeks ago. “The ultimate in mobile Internet”, “Mobile Broadbank with HSDPA”.

What gives? The Globe Visibility flyer says:

  • Surf the internetn through different means - GPRS, EDGE 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi, and Dial-up with over 270 Wiz Wi-Fi Hotspots.
  • Top speeds of up to 1.4 megabits per second — 25 times faster than dial-up and 4 times faster than DSL (ka edong says: operative words are: “up to 1.4 megabits …”)
  • Flat fee of P2,000/month

My friend Doley has been using Globe Visibility for a few weeks now. Doley says the service is good. Unlimited, consistent speeds, and he was even able to connect seamlessly while in a car cruising down EDSA.

But on another note, not all areas where there’s a Globe signal have a 3G signal. I’m sure the major cities in the Philippines have 3G, but the rural areas are less likely to have 3G and thus won’t have Globe Visibility coverage.

I believe this is why Globe is bundling their Globe Visibility with other internet connection services. So that their subscribers will have alternative ways to connect when Visibility isn’t available.

In all, this is good for competition as PLDT-Smart’s WeROAM was the only provider of similar service prior to Globe Visibility.

I subscribed to Globe’s Visibility service several days ago. My initial excitement died a sudden and brutal death when, horror of all horrors, I was getting timed out more times than I have ever experienced when I was using the legacy dial up technology from days of old.

The current performance of Visibility’s service is almost criminal when one would consider the enticing ads put out by Globe. The speed fluctuates so erratically that I got so disgusted. To think I was just a few meters under the very nose of one of Globe’s indoor 3G antennas in our office building (Tower One Ayala Triangle)

      Potential subscribers, beware!

      Thanks for feedback, Renato

      A little more info:
I heard from a friend that it’s a pain in the bumbum to configure Globe Visibility for Macs and for laptops running on Windows Vista.
Globe Visibility works best daw with HP laptops running Windows XP.

Yeah, you got it. Globe Visibility just won’t work with Vista. They said there’s a plugin (that will make it work with Vista) underway. But that was 2 months ago when he said that. I had to downgrade my Vista-enabled Laptop to XP. Real bummer.

Good thing I’m using a Mac. Now I have another reason not to get Globe Visibility.

may promo ngayon ang smart broken at globe broadband na may kasama na mefinamic acid….Tayong mga subscriber hintayin nalang ang maayos ang service nila.

smart bro works with my vista (yung quickfix nila hindi lol) although i still hate vista.

contrary to the “smart broken” story mukhang isa ako sa lucky ones na kayang mag download ng large files at play ng online game all at the same time. kahit may ulan :D

Yup, we’re among the “lucky” and “noisy” ones.
Many of the noisy ones consider themselves “unlucky” and curse the world for it.
I bless the world because there’s such a technology that was made available (at a reasonably cheap price) across the entire country!

BEWARE potential subscribers…unless you’re willing to use a 5kbps internet like me which takes up all your time..i am now looking for ways to unsubscribe..

      Hope you find a way.
If the intention is clear, the mechanism will appear.
