Grabbing Movies Online
November 23rd, 2005 | by ka edong |I’ve heard about downloading videos online. I personally haven’t tried it. I’ve never had a broad enough Internet connection to accommodate such a task.
The most that I’ve downloaded were short films, around 12 mins max for my Smartphone, Brosia. I used these pocket movies to entertain some Aeta kids when my friend and I went to Tarlac for her fieldwork.
I know some former officemates who would download episodes of Smallville or Friends via Kazaa. I was a half-MIS then (I was a “back-up” MIS when our real MIS wasn’t around) and I thought the Kazaa downloads were slowing down our connection. But I didn’t bother, I let my officemates entertain themselves.
Another friend shared that they can download full-length movies and write them into DVDs. They say it takes around a day or two to download an entire movie. Then they can sometimes write more than 3 to 4 movies in the DVD. What’s interesting is that they’re able to get old movies, classics via the Internet. For example, I got to watched an Internet downloaded copy of “Grease” (John Travolta). I guess this is where the pirates get all their copies of old TV shows like McGyver, Love Boat, The A Team — DVDs that you could find if only you knew where the secret hideaway is.
As for me, I’m not much of the downloading person. I’d rather just buy borrow DVDs. C’mon, let somebody else do the dirty work, let me just sit back and enjoy the movie.
