Students churn out mobile ideas

Last February, Smart announced the winners of a search for the best wireless services application developed by student-faculty teams under the Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP).
Basically, Smart asked student teams to put their creativity to work and come up with innovative mobile services.
The first place winner, dubbed “Atlas”, was an application that provides motorists and commuters with direction and an MMS map along with helpful information.
Second place went to “Home integration system” and the “SMART Calendar”. Hmmm… I wonder what those apps do.
I wonder too which of these apps will see commercial deployment. I’m curious to know how much royalties the students will get from the revenues of these mobile applications.
Globe G-Cash idea contest
On the other hand, almost a year ago, Globe came out with a contest for students seeking innovative uses of G-Cash. I wonder what ever happened to that contest.
A couple of students contacted me via e-mail asking me about G-Cash. I gave them some answers and some ideas and some challenges. I hope they were able to put my inputs into good use.
What kind of G-Cash ideas won? I wonder.
