Continuation of my trip to Coron …
I boarded the ship and found my way to my bunk. There was a swarm of people in the vicinity. I wondered if someone was serving free drinks, what with the crowd that was gathered.
I approached and found the reason for so many warm bodies grouped in a huddle: to give their phones some juice! I was in the midst of a cellphone charging haven. …
All sorts of chargers, a mish-mash of cables criss-crossing to their respective cellphones. All sorts of cellphones and their owners waiting patiently for their pet cellphone to regain its strength. All for free.
Every now and then, a generic beep — then two or more people would grab their cellphone to check if they had a new message.
Every now and then, a unique ringtone, a funny ringtone, a mushy ringtone. Pinoy talaga.
Every now and then, a ringing phone remains ringing. Ah, a cellphone left un-attended… will snatchers or theives dare in the midst of a crowd like this? No … no theives dare. There is security in a crowd like this.
