Bancnet ATM to G-Cash
February 6th, 2006 | by ka edong |BANCNET ATM users can now use the ATM to get G-Cash.
I gathered this from a print ad on Inquirer:
If you have an account with any BancNet-member bank, just visit any BANCNET ATM
1. Select option to do fund transfer to Asia United Bank/G-Cash.
2. Key in your 11-digit mobile number when asked for the destination account number.
3. Once the transaction is completed, you will receive a text confirmation. Regular BancNet IBFT transaction fee will apply.
There’s another brick laid in our m-commerce infrastructure.
I’ve written about ATM-to-G-Cash in a previous Edong’s Dreams article. It’s about time they came out with this service.
But why did they partner-up with a small Asia United Bank?
What I don’t understand is why BPI hasn’t lent its ATM network to G-Cash for ATM-to-G-Cash transactions considering that both Globe and BPI are Ayala companies.

It’s probably because a small bank like AUB moves faster than large BPI.

perhaps … But how fast does G-Cash need a bank to be fast? G-Cash is 1 year and 4 months old! Can’t BPI pull-off something in such a long time?

BPI moves slowly, like a government office.

I don’t know about BPI’s sloth-ness.
But I perceive BPI as innovative. See all their electronic services: phone banking, mobile banking, online banking. And the way they use their ATMs (you can change your PIN via ATM, activate phone banking via ATM).
They have a learning center in parksquare I in makati.
I still don’t think it’s mere slowness of BPI that has prevented G-Cash dispensing via BPI ATMs. I think it’s a more “political” reason.

Hi, what are the possibilities of G-Cash to ATM happening? Thanks.

Good question, Chris! I like it when people imagine things that *could* be!
If we take a line from Globe advertisements, they can answer: “POSIBLE!”
When you say G-Cash to ATM, what I imagine is:
Is that what you had in mind, chris?
That’s largely ideal and there are too many security and connectivity issues to make this happen.
What’s nice about it is it increases the points-of-cash-out for G-Cash.
What I see is G-Cash to bank account. Then the owner of the bank account can withdraw it using the bank account’s ATM card.

what about ATMs dispensing electronic load? taht would be a good idea
By ka edong on Mar 11, 2006 | Reply
hi borloloy,
That’s currently available. BPI can load Globe phones.
I’m sure there are other banks that provide this service too.

I guess its just the way most banks are. Afraid of getting wired with the public network. G-Cash to ATM or vice versa would require some *opening* somewhere out there.

Yup yup.
Think of it as opening + widening the network, just as BancNet and MegaLink widened the reach of individual banks that had just a few ATMs back then.

Hi people! I applied for credit cards for so many times. This is perhaps my last chance. Yesterday I found credit card applications at a website. Is it good to improve credit? Please consult. It’s called

You it’s already been so many years that GCASH has been used by practically most people. Hey! Can anybody in everyone’s computer that would develop a system changing G-CASH to GCASH without a dash! Oh God. Yes, blame G-PASS!
