ATM remittance via LBC
October 10th, 2005 | by ka edong |There was an LBC desk at Lucky Plaza, Singapore. LBC has a service called “LBC Money Remittance”. What caught my attention is the instant remittance via ATM card.
The recipient will need to apply for the card at LBC bank in the Philippines prior to the transaction. When an OFW in Singapore sends a remittance, the amount is reflected in the recipient’s ATM in the Philippines within 15 seconds. The recipient can then withdraw the money immediately from any Megalink ATM (LBC Bank is part of the Megalink network).
As an aside, I was also delighted that that there are financial services for OFWs in Singapore that allow them to send SSS payments to the Philippines. This is what I meant when I wrote in the past that I want the OFWs to control where their remittances go. SSS is a start. G-Cash now allows sending tuition fees to some G-Cash partner-universities. Later on, I’d like to see OFWs being able to send money straight to the hospital (for regular health care of relatives), straight to a bank as amortization for a house, straight to a savings account in the Philippines, or straight to an investment product in the Philippines.
Para naman hindi ma-sayang ang remittance sa pag-inom ni Tito Boy, o sa Piyesta, o sa “gimmick” ni Kuya.
With the emerging technologies, it’s just a matter of time.

yup… la pa naman complain ang mom ko about it. before she was using door-to-door remittance kaso medyo mababa, then PNB (i think) kaso ang haba ng pila pag mag withdraw ka na.

True that LBC is commendable in terms of you getting your remittance right away, however: it is also true that LBC have problems with their system in terms of withdrawing from ATMs. I got debited twice last year (in 2 month period) and again today (twice in a day on different ATMs) both because LBC’s system was so slow in responding that the ATM I used had timed-out before their response was received. It can get frustrating especially if you need the money. The hassle of waiting for credit is just not fair.

There *are* charges — similar to the usual inter-network charges.
Details: please ask a nearby LBC branch.

charges are reflected to cards opened in the philippines but transacted with other banks. those opened abroad are free of charges at any atm (099 card holders)

ok ang lbc atm, mabilis ang padala from abroad but the problem is hindi basta mailabas pera s atm, i tried PNB pero system error, i tried Metro Bank but “transaction cancelled. and lastly i tried BPI, ayun very good, nakakuha rin s wakas. I recomend BPI for LBC ATM Card. Thanks a lot. God Bless.
