The Joburg Connection (Part I)

Within a few days, I’ll be connecting with Johannesburg in South Africa. Let me tell you about my three degrees of connection with Johannesburg.

First degree of connection: Web blog to Joburg
One reason I’m going to Johannesburg is because of my consultancy blog, Mobile Tulay .

Around June of this year, I received an email from a gentleman at the World Bank. He got word of the work that I did in m-commerce for microfinance. He found me through my blog! As I’ve said before, it’s amazing how blogging has opened doors for me.

I made my m-commerce for microfinance study available through my blog. As a result, I’ve been interviewed by a handful of people all over the world. And I’ve been invited to go to Johannesburg (fondly known as Joburg). From web blog to Joburg.

My second degree: connecting with collegues to connect the masses

      cool!

That is really much better than anything else — you really do earn from blogging in many ways than money — like free trips and good friends.

It was a great trip! Learned a lot, shared a lot about m-commerce in the Philippines too.

Travel and talk listening are two good teachers.
