Turn your Internet cafe into a Call Center
November 10th, 2005 | by ka edong |My brother, Elmer, has been giving me leads on Tech articles. This is one of them.
There’s a service provider at Center Mall in Philicoa (did I get the Mall name right?). The service is: conversion of an Internet shop into a call center.
Images flashed in my mind:
Ah! Internet shop by day, call center by night!
Well, that’s one of the possibilities. But I hear that some Internet shops are looking at converting their facilities into a full-time call center.
The service provider gives a shop owner the necessary skills, advice, technology, software etc. to convert an Internet shop into a well-equipped call center. They even have voice/accent training, a full-blown course.
Okay ‘to, a! With so many Internet shops in cut-throat competition, some will eventually loose out to other better located shops. Why not convert the shop into a call center?
Then accept sub-con jobs, or transcriptions, or online tech support sub-cons.
Whatya tink?

i think this will be possible in future time, but currently there are still a lot of things to consider if they want to shift on becoming a call center. Like equipments, security issues, redundant internet connections, PBX, VOIP phones, etc..etc..
By ka edong on Nov 10, 2005 | Reply
That’s where the consultant comes in. They help shop owners upgrade to call center standards with all those etceteras etceteras you mentioned
Are you in the industry, sylver?
By sylver on Nov 11, 2005 | Reply
yes sir. m working as an IT in one of the call centers here. Sometimes clients from the states are very meticulous about the security specially if it is credit collections.

I agree. Other concerns include confidentiality (e.g. privacy of medical records).
keep on sharing, sylver.

Well where you think owners going to get the money needed to adjust their shops into a callcenter….
hindi naman lahat ng mayari ng computer shops has the money to invest in a call center…..
PAUTANG NAMAN….
hehe

Hi Japoy,
that’s what the consultant is there for. To help make sure your money doesn’t go to waste with mistakes that could be avoided.

Hi Ka Edong,
This is interesting. I’m an OFW based in Riyadh. I am starting to find out more about call center/bpo business as a prospective venture when I go home for good. Can you recommend a consultant for this matter?
Thanks and regards,

its really nice idea to convert lashops into call centers if you have the money to invest i suppose. However there is the most important matter after converting your lanshop into a callcenter who and how will the owner be able to get clients from the states, UK or Australia? Do the consultants assure you that you will have clients after they finish furnishing your bew business? or will the owners be left alone trying to find clients to sell the service and start making money?
By ka edong on Oct 4, 2007 | Reply
Hi Sertac,
I hear what you’re saying. I think that the consultants have a specific role of helping you convert your “hardware”, to re-purpose it.
I doubt if the consultants will *bring in* the clients. I think that’s the job of the call center owner. The consultants can give guidance, but ultimately I’d rather that the call center owners take marketing into their own hands.
Show owners are entrepreneurs, they will find their way to clients.

hi everyone… cguro totoo nga if you dont have much money to start the callcenter or homebase account, like me.. i have a client and campaign but wrong timing or luck of financials..kasi meron nga akong client pero hindi naman ako maka pag start. pero hindi pa rin ako nawawalan ng pagasa, cguro lahat ng material meron ako PC, VOIP, ACCOUNT AND CLIENT. pero kulang talaga sa puhunan….
