International remittance via LBC ATM
September 22nd, 2005 | by ka edong |There was also an LBC desk at Lucky Plaza, Singapore.
LBC has a service called “LBC Money Remittance”. What caught my attention is the instant remittance via ATM card.
The recipient will need to apply for the card at LBC bank in the Philippines prior to the transaction. When an OFW in Singapore sends a remittance, the amount is reflected in the recipient’s ATM in the Philippines within 15 seconds. The recipient can then withdraw the money immediately from any Megalink ATM (LBC Bank is part of the Megalink network).
As an aside, I was also delighted that that there are financial services for OFWs in Singapore that allow them to send SSS payments to the Philippines. This is what I meant when I wrote in the past that I want the OFWs to control where their remittances go. SSS is a start. G-Cash now allows sending tuition fees to some G-Cash partner-universities. Later on, I’d like to see OFWs being able to send money straight to the hospital (for regular health care of relatives), straight to a bank as amortization for a house, straight to a savings account in the Philippines, or straight to an investment product in the Philippines.
Para naman hindi ma-sayang ang remittance sa pag-inom ni Tito Boy, o sa Piyesta, o sa “gimmick” ni Kuya.
With the emerging technologies, it’s just a matter of time.

hi mirriam,
1.) I’m not connected with LBC
2.) LBC contacts in US: http://www.teamlbc.com/04abtct.html
Or visit the nearby LBC branch and inquire. Goodluck!

in a related story, may naka-sunod ako sa pila ng BPI ATM sa Cubao. She was using an LBC card. She says the remittance she receives through the LBC ATM Card comes from the US. It works for her. Hope it works someday for Mirriam too.

sal,
you can call LBC ATM, they will ask some info who is the sender and to whom…. and give your 6 digit card number for verification. you can coordinate sa person na nagopen ng ATM for you para matanong niya kung ano ang PIN number mo. Sayang naman kasi ang balance mo sa bank kung hindi mo makukuha. madali lang yun,,, promise Highly recommended do ang sistemang ito.

Im using an LBC Debit card applied from USA by my Brother sent to me here in Manila. For just a matter of minute I can withdraw the money he sent thru megalink, expressnet and bancnet or can be used as cash when paying items bought at any stores that allows ATM. so far i never had a problem with it…its so convenient.
I have a question now: How can somebody in Australia made a deposit to my LBC Account via his VISA Card using internet fund transfer?

Hi addie,
Thanks for feedback.
That’s a great question/idea you have there!
And I don’t think there’s currently a solution the way you described it.
But I like how you’re thinking of solutions (australia to phils via Visa + LBC) … I’m sure there’ll be some solutions soon …

Hi! my aunt sent me door to door money transfer here in the Philippines from Maryland USA through online. But, I don’t know if she sent it to my new address because I just moved in my new apartmet. what do you think I should do? and is it really true that it is a one day processing?
[Reply to this comment]
By ka edong on Sep 6, 2007 | Reply
my two centavos:
You’re aunt should have a tracking number or reference number, given to her when she sent the money.
Use this number to clarify your situation with LBC. Or your aunt may do the clarification, request for redirection to your new address.

@ roselyn, the swift code is bank-specific (not card-specific). Ask your bank what their swift code is

dapat tangalin as teller yung mga inefficient para maganda ang takbo ng padala sa LBC, may mga suplado na akala mo sila ang may ari ng pera na pinadadala, listen to need of the shipper.
much better go to a known philippine banks remittance center, mas mura pa

Paano kaya yan. Tatlong araw na ang nakalipas since 23 May 2008 hanggang ngayon 26 May 2008. Hindi daw macheck ng LBC dito sa Brunei dahil hindi daw maview ang statement. Bakit? Kailan sya maview.

Hi jhosa,
I don’t have that kind of information.
Suggest: Your sister can ask her Filipino friends in Korea kung aling remittance service and pinaka-maganda para sa kanila.
Try also some of the online remittance services featured on eOFW.Net:
