Writing about medical transcriptions yesterday reminded me about Dr. George. Dr. George is an online medical advise website primarily serving the US market. It’s a question answer website where visitors post their medical question and a professional medical opinion is posted online as a response.
The thing is, the patients don’t know that the doctors responding to their queries are Filipino doctors! Filipino doctors from PGH!
Yes, that’s what I heard many years back.
I tried out DoctorGeorge.com.ph around two years ago. Yes, they do have a Philippine version of the service. I was very satisfied with the service. (I tried loading the page today, I couldn’t find it this time).
It made me wonder why the site doesn’t seem to be popular here in the Philippines. I wonder if this service can be done via SMS. A question and answer type of service in packets of 160 characters.
Although it couldn’t be considered an “official” diagnosis, it does fill-up some gaps in this country where so many children die without even seeing a doctor.

I have hyperthyroidism - I have had my radio active iodine treatment - now I am taking synthroid. But I don’t go back to the doctor till the end of August….The left side of my face is very swollen - my eye, my cheek and I have had a headack for 3 days. I feel very, very tired. I am 48 years old in otherwise good health. Should I call my doctors’ nurse?

I have a question. I recently went to the dr for a visit to get back on the birth control pill. Before perscribing my perscription of course they requested a urine sample. I just learned that blood was found in my urine and now they want me to return for a CT Scan? Can you tell me what all this could possible mean?

I have a question, this morning i wake up with my stomach full of water. I was not able to stand appropriately. I started vomiting undigested food and visiting the toilet frequently. Then i went to a certain Doctor who told me that I have got too much acid in my stomach, and he gave me some pills and medicine but it is not better.

Hope you’re better now. Better to seek professional help.
Take care.
