Gov.ph sa wikang Pilipino

I visited the Phiippine Government portal, Gov.ph, for some research for eOFW.edongskey.com.

I used to frequent the gov.ph portal in my work with Digital Philippines Foundation. At one point in 2004, I made an estimate of number of websites written in Filipino: less than 2,000 websites (See Philippine IT Statistics on Technobiography Archives).

Glad to see there is some effort to localize the website in the Philippine language.

The translations in the portal are mostly for the website headers, icons and other non-content elements. The content is still predominantly written in English. It will be too big a job to translate ALL articles in Filipino.

Well, they could start with writing the articles in Filipino, in the first place. But that’s another discussion.
The portal needs some housecleaning. I see subtitles labelled “subtitle” and a right-side bar that reads ” Impormasyon Ayon sa Tagap “.

Well, I give it an E for effort. Hehehe.
