Right, I know the title is weird. I’m finding this phenomenon weird as well and I don’t have an explanation for it yet.
So let me explain.
This morning, I did some work at at a free wifi cafe along Session Road (Cafe Zola). Ten minutes before my battery went zilch, I opened up my […]

I was curious about this WiFi hotspot named Seichetunnel.com which I’d pick-up when I telecommute from my brother’s office, the Philippine Auto Club, near gate 5 at Greenhills.
I was doubly curious when I saw the same hotspot name when I WiFi sniffed from Robinson’s Pioneer. I didn’t use the Seiche hotspot the first many times […]

We’ve got FREE WiFi at the Araneta Center!
WiFi is available at Araneta Coliseum, Gateway mall, Shopwise (not available within the supermarket area) and Ali Mall (restaurant row only).
Reminds me of Free hotspots in Singapore Malls. Just sniff for WiFi and you’ll find a free and open hotspot.
Someday, the Philippines will have enough Internet wireless connectivity that […]

Ads, bugs and poor grammar, that’s what’s more!
I was in Rockwell at Seattle’s best on New Year’s eve, sending out last minute emails that I wanted to close before the year ended.
I sniffed for a WiFi Hotspot and true enough, there was a free and open Wigo hotspot. Thought I was lucky.
I got a connection, […]

Bonifacio day last week, I had work!
Fortunately, I did my work from Baguio (my hometown).
But my parent’s dial-up Internet was not enough for my broadband work needs.
So I scuttled to Figaro in Filling Station, John Hay and accessed their hotspot.
I’ve accessed the hotspot before, but it was all soooo expensive (P100 per hour pre-paid card).
But […]

Oh, so that’s how it’s supposed to work.
I’ve always passed by Internet kiosks like this in Shangri-La Mall, EDSA. But they’re always either not working or asking for a password.
This kiosk in Filling-station, John Hay provides Internet access to any user, without any login required. It gets the connection via Wi-Fi. This kid is playing […]

Got myself a Smart WiFly account. (Frankly, another service brandname that sucks). For an additional P100/month on top of my current Smart WiFi (Smart Bro) Account, I get an unlimited Airborne Access account.
The low-down:
A good deal for me who has access to Airborne Access hotspots in Mandaluyong, Baguio, Makati etc.
I’ve used Airborne Access hotspots in […]

We like competition! That’s my first take on the entry of Globe in the service of mobile Internet access anytime anywhere.
Globe introduced Globe Visibility around two weeks ago. “The ultimate in mobile Internet”, “Mobile Broadbank with HSDPA”.
What gives? The Globe Visibility flyer says:
Surf the internetn through different means - GPRS, EDGE 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi, and […]

I had to get a good internet access from my laptop in Baguio. I used it to make Skype calls.
So I used Airborne Access at the Figaro at the Filling Station in John Hay. It cost me P100 for the first card and boy does 1-hour fly so fast when you (and your mom) are […]

There’s a WiFi hotspot at the Petron gas station EDSA cor Pasay Road in Makati. The WiFi hotspot is branded ConneX and the poster says it’s free free free. Same goes for Petron EDSA at Gate 5 Greenhills, San Juan.

It was a hotspot waiting to be born. Robinson’s Pioneer now has a WiFi hotspot that is free-as-in-beer, free-as-in-”free for all”.
I tried it out but my laptop wasn’t cooperating. Regardless, the lady at the information booth said the WiFi access areas are mostly at the second floor, above the fountain area.
Go take it for a ride!

Well well well, what have we got here?
I saw this gadget at the Shaw Blvd station of the MRT last Saturday. Looks familiar!
It’s an upgrade of a contact less smart card MRT ticket. The smart card is designed to be installed inside the cellphone of commuters. I’ve written about this before in my first Edong’s Dream (mobile phone entry to MRT stations) and when a mobile phone MRT ticket prototype came out in June 2005.
