This would come in handy when testing our internet connection, like what I needed to do when I tried out 3G services of Globe/Smart.
Great work you have here, John/Ching. Keep it up! Thanks for the tip, Michelle!

That’s what MyHeritage.com shows me.
Here’s a face recognition application which matches your photo with a couple of celebrity look-alikes.
Interesting. A few more months or years down, this technology will be so much more advanced that it could probably find *real* relatives on the net. Maybe find a long lost brother …

Facebook is so popular here in Canada. My Toronto-based cousin is a newbie on Facebook. She gave in to her curiousity and joined after receiving so many Facebook invites from her Canadian friends.
Friendster isn’t as popular in Canada as it is in the Philippines. So how about Pinoys in Canada?
Well, here’s the latest report. My […]

My cousin created an email address for his newborn daughter so that they can share some photos of the baby.
A few days after setting up the baby’s email address, the baby was receiving SPAM!
How quick these SPAMmers get to our email addresses. Amazing, ‘ei?
Story 2:
I used my handset’s voicemail service for the first time […]

I got a referral link to EditGrid on a previous article about a spreadsheet wiki idea I had.
I’ve been using EditGrid since last week and it was all that I wanted from an online collaborative spreadsheet.
• Private (password protected) or public sharing
• Read or write access
• Version history and reverting to the last known good […]

I have a need for a Spreadsheet Wiki. Let me describe it by an example.
I want to make a comparison table of Philippines Remittance Services on eOFW.
I want to have the convenience of adding bits of information to it online, not on my laptop.
I want the general public to be able to access the comparison […]
OverKill Bill: HSBC’s Security Device

I received a “security device” from my credit card company, HSBC. It’s a small keychain with a single button. When the button is pressed, the keychain will display a 6-digit number. The “security device” generates a unique 6-digit code to be used each time I log-on to my HSBC on-line account. The number is different each time the button is pressed. And my on-line account can tell whether I’m just faking or guessing a 6-digit number. Or whether somebody else is trying to access my account.

We played around with Google spreadsheet. Quite nifty as a real-time collaborative tool. While we were both online, my brother and I got on a shared spreadsheet and started manipulating it. The updates we both made were visible to the other party (he in Indonesia, me in never never land) almost instantaneously (maybe with 1-5 seconds delay).

Sharing books via Bookcrossing

The principle behind bookcrossing is:
After reading a book, instead of putting it in a shelf, share it to other people. Share it to strangers, even! Then, through a bookcrossing ID (BCID), readers can look-up who else has read that particular book before and any other journal entries related to that book.

At least that’s how it sounded like.
Had a brief talk with Kates the other day via Google Talk or GTalk.
It was the first time for both of us. I called Kates and he sounded like he was talking inside a can and had a bad case of Laryngitis.

I’ve been an on-and-off user of Skype. My first call was to an online friend, Warren Mira, who’s always online on Skype. My first call via Skype was in 2005 from our school’s Wireless LAN.
Although Warren and I never met face-to-face, the few times we talked we were more than just acquaintances.

I’m not excited because I’m not the IM (instant messaging) type of guy.
