How do you sell cinema tickets via a cellphone?
Smart found a way. They call it Ticketxt – Mobile Ticketing System.
I wrote about Ticketxt last month, but saw the mechanics of the system and the barcode scanner only a few days ago.

Every now and then, I get a message alert that appear to be SpaSMS (unsolicited SMS messages). Upon further inspection, they turn out to be legitimate messages from my telco, not to say that I agree with what they're doing and how they're doing it. Here's a sequence of messages ...

1. Select option to do fund transfer to Asia United Bank/G-Cash.
2. Key in your 11-digit mobile number when asked ...

My friend and I purchased a few items at Watson's in SM Megamall. My usual curiousity found me chatting with the cashier and bagger lady.
These are some info they shared:
* Some people [ aside from me! ;-) ] do in fact make purchases using G-Cash or Smart Money. (At least ...

In October 2005, I applied for a Globe-BPI mobile banking service called BPI Express Mobile. The service promised to let transact with BPI through my mobile phone just like I do on the Internet via www.BPIexpressonline.com. I'd be able to check my balances, transfer funds, pay bills etc.
[sarcasm tag] ...

On Pinoy.Tech.Blog, I describe the most jologs G-Cash partner I've seen.
It's so obscure that I couldn't even remember the company's name! But, it's all good.

On Pinoy.Tech.Blog, I write about Smart Money simplifying their service. Nothing official yet, just heard it through the grapevine.
Last week, I wrote about G-Cash transactions via the SIM Tool Kit (STK). There’s more I gather from the grapevine and it's about Smart Money.
Smart Money, I hear, is busy enhancing their ...

On Pinoy.Tech.Blog, I share an exchange I had with a gentleman from Geneva regarding mobile services on a global scale.
Currently, I can think of three mobile services that generally work globally across different countries and different mobile networks: IDD calls, International SMS and International MMS.
But aside from these, ...

I’ve seen two types of G-Cash ATMs. The first is a big touch screen one, same size as a regular bank ATM.
The second one is a smaller version as seen in the series of photos below. I saw this one at SM Megamall.
It’s about the size of a ...

On Pinoy.Tech.Blog:
My neighbor’s TV was blaring once again the other night. Thanks to my neighbor’s, I caught a blow-by-blow account of the Pinoy Big Brother proceedings while I tried to get some work done.
I overheard that they were doing an auction of T-shirts designed by Pinoy Big Brother housemates. ...

There was an LBC desk at Lucky Plaza, Singapore. LBC has a service called “LBC Money Remittance”. What caught my attention is the instant remittance via ATM card.
The recipient will need to apply for the card at LBC bank in the Philippines prior to the transaction. When an OFW ...

Last month, Maya and I went to Singapore. We had the chance to visit Lucky Plaza, the mall where Filipinos converge during Sundays. We were there on a Monday so we missed the “Divisoria”-esque ambiance.
There was a remittance and courier desk that was adverting Smart Money and G-Cash. Being ...

LBC was one of the first partner merchants of G-Cash. At the time of the launching of G-Cash in Oct 2004 (almost a year ago!), LBC purportedly accepted Cash-In transactions in some of its branches. I personally was never able to transact G-Cash at any LBC branch.
I found it odd ...
