SMS messages sent per day in the Philippines

The Philippines has beenconsistently referred to as the texting capital of the world, and has especially taken tothis technology in a big way. It is estimated that around 200 million text messages a day are sent in the country!

Last night, I was at a book launching at Powerbooks, Greenbelt3. The book was entitled “Kapwa” (the self in others), written by Katrin de Guia.
There was a talakayan (discussion) and people were invited to speak. I wanted speak but didn’t. If I did, this is what I would have said:
I’m Edwin S. Soriano and I’m mentally retarded.

The live 3G streaming videos from ABS-CBN and ANC were quite good. If streaming video was good, I should expect a good Internet connection as well.
The first two times we tried to connect to the Internet via the 3G phone, a notification would say something like “connecting to the server”. Then, after ten seconds or so …

I lost my indispensable phone, Brosia.
Brosia is my Smartphone, two and a half years old, my constant companion for waking me up, tending to my schedules, reminders, sending my e-mails, SMS of course and a whole lot more.
When I got off my taxi this morning, I wanted to make a call. Brosia wasn’t in my pocket.

Have a few upcoming articles, still to be written. I’m getting a Smart WiFi Subscription despite all the criticisms I’ve been reading about Smart WiFi. I’ll be doing some e-governance tryouts, some Globe service tryouts (as soon as I find my Globe SIM!).

I first read about Google Base on Pinoy.Tech.Blog. I couldn’t figure out the service name - the first thing that came to mind was BASE jumping (parachuting from Buildings, Antennas, S-Something, E-Ewan nalimutan ko na).

I caught a test broadcast of GMA network’s new channel, QTV – Quality TV. QTV will soon be available over antenna-TV channel 11. I guess this will be the ka-puso’s counterpart of Studio 23.
