Yesterday and Today, L and I have been working on an idea we hope to profit from.
But first, we create value.
Came up with a brilliant idea for a book

I’ve accomplished a few of the […]

Yesterday, I experienced for the first time a full pabasa. It had the works. Santos all dressed up at an altar, Pasyon books with the verses that to be sang, a CD with a recorded accompaniment of the pabasa and of course the readers, family, friends, visitors and the food!
I was wondering, isn’t there a […]

We’ve got FREE WiFi at the Araneta Center!
WiFi is available at Araneta Coliseum, Gateway mall, Shopwise (not available within the supermarket area) and Ali Mall (restaurant row only).
Reminds me of Free hotspots in Singapore Malls. Just sniff for WiFi and you’ll find a free and open hotspot.
Someday, the Philippines will have enough Internet wireless connectivity that […]

Look what we’ve got.
Smart is coming out with a technology-enabled / mobile-commerce-enabled transportation pass at the MRT.
Evidence is a spiffy silver booth at the North Ave Station of the MRT labelled “Metropass” and sporting a Smart Money poster. I didn’t find any details about the Metropass service, though. I had a chat with a cashier in […]

I’m at my relatives’ home where they have wireless broadband Internet. There are 4 computers in the home (a desktop, 2 of their laptops and my laptop).
In our conversations after meals, we’d find ourselves discussing stuff from TV shows or movies or news or weather while checking our emails online. Then spontaneously there would be […]

My brother, Elmer, was on the Inquirer front-page with a story on how to spread e-learning through the “tsinelas-net”.
Here’s an excerpt:
BAGUIO CITY—Educators can learn a thing or two from their friendly neighborhood DVD pirates, according to an information technology company (IT) based here.
With the shortage of classrooms, teachers could record and distribute their lectures on DVD […]

If you asked me in 2001 or earlier whether on-line relationships could thrive, I would probably reply that on-line relationships are superficial, artificial, un-real.
But gathering various stories the past years, I have come to the conclusion that on-line relationships can be genuine and could lead to long-term relationships.

We played around with Google spreadsheet. Quite nifty as a real-time collaborative tool. While we were both online, my brother and I got on a shared spreadsheet and started manipulating it. The updates we both made were visible to the other party (he in Indonesia, me in never never land) almost instantaneously (maybe with 1-5 seconds delay).

The principle behind bookcrossing is:
After reading a book, instead of putting it in a shelf, share it to other people. Share it to strangers, even! Then, through a bookcrossing ID (BCID), readers can look-up who else has read that particular book before and any other journal entries related to that book.

What’s interesting is how the card can be reloaded.

Had a chat with a friend. He was surfing and searching and found my article about Smart WiFi in Cuyo (Smart WiFi Wondering, July 26, 2005).
I’m excited about connecting remote areas of the Philippines with Smart WiFi. If, in the past, the requirements to bring internet access to an area were: electricity and telephone lines, now these are no longer prerequisites! Now we can bring internet access to Cuyo Palawan, where there are no telephone lines!
He shares this story about a quiet town in Tarlac that used to be at the farthest corner of nowhere.

She was seeing the ATM screen acting like a TV flashing BPI advertisements.
