I visited the Phiippine Government portal, Gov.ph, for some research for eOFW.edongskey.com.

Got this message via SMS from a number that I don’t recognize:

Hi All! for d wkly black friday silent protest, come join 2day’s 6pm MRT ride. W frnds, wear black, get on MRT at 6pm nd head to ORTIGAS STATN. We’ll convrge der, stay a few mins, let 7 trains pass den peacefuly board nd dsperse bfore 7pm. Tweak ur fri! C u der, bring ur smiles ;-) & pls pass 2 mrt-riding frnds

This is happening today.
I feel the organizers of this silent protest meant well.
But I think they do not realize what kind of havoc this can create!

The NBI has a van that is fully-equipped to process and issue clearances. It comes complete with a digital camera, computers (specifically laptops) that contain the necessary databases and a printer.

NBI Clearance Renewal Kiosks

I tried out one kiosk at Portavaga mall in Baguio. All within 5 minutes, I made a P120 payment, had a digital ID picture taken, had my name verified, and had a printout with barcode issued.

NBI Tech - Biometric Bundy Clock

There’s a Biometrics time-in/time-out machine at NBI Carriedo. It’s something out of a Science Fair, what with the crude but clever way the machine was packaged.
