Paging 65 Year-old Friendsters
August 31st, 2006 | by ka edong |I have another project: Finding my mom’s high school classmates from Blessed Imelda Academy – “The Imeldists”.
Question for my readers:
Any ideas other ideas on how to find my mom’s high school classmates?
It’s almost their 50th year anniversary after high school graduation. My mom’s really excited about contacting her classmates.
I put up a website a year ago “Wanted: 65-year old Imeldists“, listing the names of her classmates and describing my project.
I searched the Internet for her classmates. I thought I found some, but they turned out to be namesakes of my mom’s classmates. It’s not easy looking for 65-year-olds over the Internet. There’s not much information for Filipinos of that generation on the Internet.
We don’t see many 65-year-old bloggers or 65-year-olds on Friendster.
Another thing that makes it difficult to find these classmates is they have changed from maiden name to married name.
I’ve tried Google Search, I’ve tried Alumni.Net, I’ve tried searching for Fil-Am organizations, I’ve writing notes on Dagupan online guestbooks.
A month ago, I sent out some e-mails to some Dagupan groups hoping to be referred to people who might know the whereabouts of the Imeldists. I got some responses. The most promising one was from no less than the vice mayor of Dagupan who happens to be a blogger, Vice Mayor Alvin Fernandez of Dagupan.
He was able to track down Norma Rosal Mir through the senior citizen network. Thanks, VM Alvin!
Current status:
- Lydia Castro de Vera - found via home-visit in Pangasinan; telephone number secured
- Lydia Aquino Mac – in Canada, don’t have her contact number
- Norma Rosal Mir – got a phone number through VM Alvin, but it has been replaced and haven’t contacted Mila
