My Firefox Referral Button…

December 10th, 2005 | by ka edong |

I’ve been trying to install the Google Adsense Firefox Referral button.

But it doesn’t appear on my Technobiography template.
It appears white (take a look, below the search box on the left).
I don’t know why yet, I’m trying to figure it out. Can anybody help?

Here, let me try putting the button on an article:

hmmm….. it’s not there …. bakit kaya?

Update:

Case solved. Removed “www.google.com” from my Adsense’s Competitive Ad Filter. Installed the Google Referral script in the _template_ files of my WP template. Still haven’t gotten the Firefox Referral plugin to work, though.

I also tried installing the code on my good ol’ geocities webpage: Kubo ni Ka Edong. It still appears white.

Next step, write to Google support.

It’s showing a js script error on IE. Please recheck your referral code if it’s complete.

Pleasantly prompt, Google’s reply was. Here’s an email reply from GoogleAdsense Support:

      Hello Edwin,

Thank you for taking the time to email us. I’ve reviewed your account, and
have determined that your referral buttons aren’t displaying because
you’ve included “google.com” in your Competitive Ad Filter list. At this
time, filtering ads from google.com will prevent referral buttons from
displaying properly. Our engineers are aware of this issue and are working
      to correct it.

In the meantime, we recommend you remove google.com from your Competitive
Ad Filter list if you wish to use referrals. We apologize for any
      inconvenience.

For additional questions, we suggest you visit our AdSense Support site at
https://www.google.com/support/adsense . If you’re unable to find an
answer to your question on our site, please feel free to reply to this
      email.

      Sincerely,

      Arlene
      The Google AdSense Team

I removed the competitive ad filter already. But it’s still the same, still a white button, even after refreshing the page. Arlene of AdSense said that changes in competitive ad filter take up to three hours to take effect. I checked just now. The button is up and running. Here’s to a little more AdSense revenue, hopefully.
